Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a safe and natural
trance state that we enter into
spontaneously several times a day.
When driving a familiar route you
may go into “highway hypnosis”, and
arrive in your destination without
remembering the trip. When reading
or watching an absorbing movie, the
time may seem to fly by without
realizing it. When you daydream, or
are creating something, you can be
in a trance state. It gives access
to the part of our brain where our
memories, emotions, intuition,
creativity, and imagination reside.
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is the process of using
hypnotic trance for beneficial
purposes such as stress/anxiety
reduction, habit control, building
confidence, relief of symptoms/pain,
preparing for childbirth, or
surgery, and healing faster.
Is it safe?
As a trained hypnotherapist, I can
put you in trance and bring you out
easily and safely. You will not be
asleep, in fact you will be able to
hear and remember everything I say.
You will not do or say anything that
you would not want to. In hypnosis
the conscious mind is relaxed, so
the subconscious mind can be fully
alert and receptive. To make any
permanent, lasting changes, it is
necessary to engage the subconscious
mind, where memories, traumas,
sources of habitual beliefs and
habits were first formed. For
instance, to permanently lose
weight, it helps to uncover the
underlying emotional reasons for
overeating in the first place.
Otherwise, dieting alone may fail,
if we fall back onto old patterns of
behavior, as soon as the diet is
finished.
Can I be Hypnotized?
Although some people go into trance
more easily than others, almost
everyone can be hypnotized. Since
you may remember everything that
goes on during a session, you may
come away feeling that you were not
hypnotized. Yet, even in a light
trance, profound changes can occur.
How long is a session and how
many will it take?
A session will last between 60 and
90 minutes. The number of sessions
will depend on what issues you wish
to work on, how long standing they
are and complexity of what we
discover has brought them about.
Sometimes, we can get to the major
causes and clear up an issue in one
or two sessions. For weight loss,
smoking cessation, or other long
standing addictions I recommend a
minimum of 4-8 sessions. I offer a
free of charge, or obligation phone
consultation before we begin work to
determine if we can work together.
What will it cost?
A single session is $75. For a group
of 4 or more sessions, paid in
advance, it is $50 per session.
